This weeks yeti is brought to you by another strange and wonderful creature - The Yeti crab!
Ok, so I only picked this because of it’s namesake, but still, it’s definitely Yeti goodness. This guy’s a pretty recent discovery, too, found in the Pacific ocean in 2006. Ok so it’s real name is Kiwa Hirsuta, and it’s a friendly crustacean (think… Crusty Crab). Here’s a video about his discovery:
On the theme of Disney, this week’s Yeti comes to you from the Expedition Everest ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Here he is:
From wikipedia…
The complex yeti figure has the following technical details
The yeti’s “skin” measures 1,000 square feet (93 m2), and is held in place by 1,000 snaps and 250 zippers.
The yeti’s movement is controlled by 19 actuators.
The yeti can move five feet horizontally, and two feet vertically.
The yeti is 22 feet (6.7 m) tall.
Recently the Yeti figure has stopped moving, and is now in what is referred to as “B Mode,” where the yeti does not move, but a strobe effect is cast on it to give the impression that the figure was still moving. It is unknown at the time whether or not the yeti will be fixed.
This week’s weekly yeti is brought to you from Etsy.com and the wonderful seller PearsonMaron. These hand crafted Yeti magnets will add a crytid touch to any boring fridge door.
WOW! So much to write about in the weekly yeti this week :D It all started last week I guess, but I’d already lined up that super cute t-shirt for you guys to check out then…
Well, this news has even been on the BBC (originally here, and most recently here), so it’s pretty big! I’ve been following it on Cryptomundo and a few other blogs, and it’s just hilariously hoaxy.
Basically, a couple of guys tried to say they’d found bigfoot’s body… even going so far as to arrange a press conference where they would unveil bigfoots rotting corpse. Suffice to say it’s all a hoax, and it’s been revealed that the body was nothing more than an ape suit with some roadkill thrown in for good measure.
One of the guys was a cop, who it’s believed is getting the boot after this whole debacle. Anyway, check out those links above for some more indepth info about it all :)
