Snow Boots

Posted by kim on January 12th, 2010

How’re you fairing in the snow and ice? I’m so unbelievably glad I got my biker boots in December, money very well spent. Despite the weather I’ve still been trudging to work every morning, even through the blizzards, and I owe it all to my boots. Without them I would have gone arse over tits several times this week… especially this morning.

It’s ridiculous, though, I’ve seen so many people wearing pathetically inappropriate foot wear. Come on… high healed suede shoes? not only are you gonna cause a scene when you pirouette into a broken ankle, but your shoes will be fucked too. Salt marks, anyone? It’s not that hard to find appropriate footwear, even if you just wear some walking boots for that walking about thing and switch to pumps when you’re inside. Not many people will look at you in the street like ‘ew… srsly, why is that girl wearing gripping shoes?’ You’re 100% more likely to make a fool of yourself by not wearing something suitable for the snow, fact.

I digress, my boots are fabulous. They cost all of £30 in the office sale (as opposed to an equivalent pair at £85… IN FACT you can now get them for just £10 so I just got another pair for when these ones die!) and I haven’t taken them off my feet. I’ve treated them, too, bought them new insoles and some lovely blackening wax ♥

What have you been wearing in this weather? If you say uggs, I’ll hunt you down.

Snowy Day

So, everyone’s blogging about the snow? I guess I better join the queue :)

Snow Day

Here, have a really blurry, high ISO photo of the snow. Taken just now, from my front door… in pajamas.

If you didn’t already know we’ve had a very snowy day here in the UK (relatively speaking), which has plunged the country into some weird silent chaos. It seems that in The South things have really gone to pot, even the London buses weren’t running today. Up here in The North though, where we have to walk to work and back up hill both ways, the snow really peaked this afternoon so whilst people got into work with barely any problems this morning the commute home was a bit more intense. Even my measly 10 minute bus ride took me a ridiculous 1 hour on the way home. WTF is with that? I think, looking at the table in the back garden, that we’ve had about 6 inches throughout the day… apparently it’s the worst/best snow in 20 years or something. Ah!
