A favourite artist of mine, producing some of the most delicate beautiful work, is Audrey Kawasaki. I’ve been following her work for a few years now and just love her subject matter and palette. You should definitely check her out!

I’m not at all experienced in logo design, apart from the odd bits I’ve had to do for FinestImaginary in the past, but as I was working on some logos at work the other day I thought I’d better investigate a bit more about this side of design and work on a new FinestImaginary logo whilst I was at it.

I briefly looked through the logo lounge book, which whilst a great resource of logos and inspiration for shapes/colour schemes, doesn’t really tell you anything about them. So anyway, I like pretty logos. My new FinestImaginary logo follows the same thought bubble theme of the older logo I scrabbled together with some photoshop preset shapes (bad, I know…).

Infact, this particular image wasn’t so much a logo as a graphic element that features in some banners, and accross the online store. Boo. I hate it.

So, now that FinestImaginary is developing some kind of visual identity (or at least, I feel it is… it’s falling into something anyway). I thought it was definitely time for a new logo to illustrate that. A lot of the new finestimaginary work is coming out clean, with fresh colours and with the new jewellery items there’s a lot of sharp defined edges. Of course, there’s gunna be some big things with printing later this year so I didn’t want to stray away from my screen printing roots. Then of course, there’s the fun factor that finestImaginary just can’t lose.

With all that blabbing on, here’s the new logo. It was fun, it’s simple, it’s clean and will work well for now. Who knows, I’ll probably hate it next week…

I’ve just discovered the delightful blog of a wonderful Moleskiner. One of my most favourites already, infact.

Mattias Inks is full of delightfully inspired posts featuring wonderful imagery and a great use of the humble moleskine.

I’m not only obsessed with the subject matter (everything from pigs in hats, to steam powered drawing implements), but the use of colour and a subtle palette that’s used is just delicious.

Go check it, you won’t be dissapointed.
