I actually made my first batch of tortillas a few months ago and forgot to document it for my 27 things.

We’ve been using a recipe from the Mexican Food Made Simple 27 Things: Learn to make tortillas cookbook, unfortunately we’ve had problems with the corn meal that we’ve been using… in the end we’ve just been adding some plain flour to the dough to help it. There’s a good recipe on making corn tortillas here, though.

They’re so much tastier than the shop bought ones, however I’ve found that the brand ‘Discovery’ make some pretty awesome corn tortillas that you can get at Sainsburys.

I’ll be posting a couple of recipes that we use our homemade tortillas in over the next couple of weeks. Yummy! They’re so simple to make, though, and if you make a huge batch in one go then you can freeze some for use later (although they’re so much better fresh!).

I’d like to get my hands on a tortilla press, though, it’d make the job so much faster!

tortilla press is awesome! I have one…. granted when I was little my parents used it to make flour, although the one I have is for corn… I sort of prefer to roll my dough out for flour, but flour tortillas are great, they make me extremelly home sick! Ahhhh…
