Multi-Colour Drawers DIY

In the Finest Imaginary craft room there was a set of those wooden ikea table-top drawers, you know the ones. Over the years they’ve housed necklaces (until they graduated to the amazing wall drawer system), crafty bits, and all manner of randomness. My latest ‘spring clearout’ effort has seen me throw out, or list on my destash store, quite a lot of stuff that resided in them so the drawers were pretty empty.

I decided they’d be put to better use on my bedside, and thought they might be nice spruced up a bit!

I’ve got a whole host of acrylic paints that I use on Finest Imaginary jewellery, it’s decoart crafters acrylic, so decided to use them on the drawer fronts. I love the consistency of it – not as thick as most acrylic paints – and the fact that it gives a really good colour on just one coat.

(you can tell a  lot about a person from what’s on their bedside!)

Adam’s super jealous and wants a set of his own now, maybe I’ll do those in a different style? I thought about masking off sections for chevrons and triangles. We’ll see!

Winter Bedding

I’m starting to change up our house seeing as it’s feeling quite Autumnal, starting with some new bedding from Ikea that we got this weekend. I’m thinking of a nice throw for the foot of the bed, too, and lots of cushions. Hopefully I’ll also get around to creating a cover for our (ugly) headboard this year!

I love the pattern on this quilt cover, quite Nordic/Swedish don’t you think? Definitely good inspiration for a Autumn/Winter feel! We still have the summer weight duvet, though, it’s not quite cold enough to change that yet.

Sunday Project

I’ve been thinking about organisation stuff for Finest Imaginary quite a lot this week, and decided to have a rearrange in my packing/storage/sewing room. We have two rooms that we use in our house for work stuff, one is a tiny box room, and the other is a back bedroom. The larger room is a shared office with a sofa bed, a wall-length desk, and hopefully loads of bookcases at some point.

The tiny box room has a bookshelf, small desk, chair, and loads of boxes full of finest imaginary stuff & packaging supplies. It’s snug to say the least!

I’ve been doing quite a lot of actual order packing in the large office because of the space, & my containers of finest imaginary jewellery were all in here. We decided to move them into the smaller room & hang them on the wall… so much neater!!! Not only that but it makes it so much easier to see what I’m looking for, having them at eye level makes a huge difference. I’ll try and get a photo of the whole room when it’s been completely tidied, still having storage issues with my packaging supplies. Erk.

really useful boxes Sunday Project

Each of the boxes contain a different necklace/brooch design. We added a strip of wood to the bottom of each box so that they tilt up slightly, making it harder for the smaller boxes to slide out of their own accord. The storage boxes are Really Useful Box Organisers Sunday Project, and I got them because the small boxes are removable and stackable with secure clip lids, so I can take them all to any markets I do.

The pink hue to the white walls is due to the opposite wall being bright bright pink :)

Right, I’m going to spend the rest of my Sunday watching the f1 race & reading my book :) Hope you’re all having a great weekend!
