Christmas Catch Up!

Hello! It’s been a while, hey?

I’ve been busy trying to get all the Finest Imaginary orders posted out before the last postage dates, that was on Tuesday. We headed for a final trip to the post office at 4pm and then for a quick pint to celebrate. It was sort of my works Christmas do ;)

I’ve also been struck down (in the pridmed of lidfed as Monica would say) with a rubbish cold, which isn’t fantastic but at least it was after the busiest time of the year! It’s given me a nice excuse to slouch around on the couch and catch up on some much needed R&R, though.

I’ve been finishing off a few projects this week, and sorting out my freelance work for January. I’m going to try and get a head start on things over the Christmas period, but nothing too taxing. Speaking of taxing, I even filed my tax return from my sick bed yesterday!

I finished up on our Christmas/Autumn wreath yesterday, too, what do you think? I’ll be posting a tutorial for it this week, along with a template for cutting the leaves (they’re felt, with freehand machine embroidery details).

Until next time!

Comment 11, Molly! I’ll be in touch in the next few days :)

I have a final little surprise coming up tomorrow for everyone!

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

This past Saturday was one of the first free days we’d had in SO long. Between doing all the markets, working hard and being sloths, we hadn’t been out anywhere fun in ages. I really wanted to see the Donna Wilson (cute) & Rachel Goodyear (creepy) exhibitions at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park so we headed over there on Saturday morning.

Here are a few photos from our day out! It was a cold day, I should really have worn jeans instead of chinos.. oh well.

Giveaway Time! Miso Funky

christmas giveaways Giveaway Time! Miso Funky

The final giveaway in my Christmas Giveaway series comes from Claire of Miso Funky! You’ll have seen Miso Funky mentioned around here before, Claire and I shared a stall space at Renegade London a few months back.

Tell us about what you do!

I cross stitch homewares and accessories – they’re traditional samplers with a very modern twist. I like to offer something a bit different to the extremely twee stuff out there – a wee bit of subversiveness!

What’s next for Miso Funky?

Well, this year, I have several events in the run-up to Christmas, including the Made In The Shade Hullabaloo on December 10th. I also ran workshops in the Sknitch Zone at Clothes Show Live on December 4th – very exciting! After the Christmas rush is out the way, I’ll be concentrating on preparing for some big events next year, as well as a new range of bigger cross stitch kits.

Does all that cross-stitching give you a bad back?!

No, it doesn’t! If anything, it gives me a slightly dodgy wrist sometimes. And I probably should wear my glasses more… For the finished pieces, I now have a team of expert stitchers to help me out, otherwise I’d need to work 48 hour days!

What’s your favourite book?

Flat Stanley. It’s a classic kids’ book about a boy who gets flattened by a pinboard. My favourite bit is when he posts himself to America – I wish I could do that!

And finally, what’s your favourite thing about Christmas?

Probably my favourite time is when I can shut up shop and relax. I am going to have some proper days off this year from my day job, so once that last parcel is posted, I am kicking back and relaxing! I love wrapping gifts, so I will be looking forward to getting all my ribbons and bows out soon to start to get into the festive spirit!

You can find Miso Funky on facebook and twitter, too :)
