27 Things: Watch all the Star Wars films back-to-back

Yep, that’s right, a whole fun-filled day of Star Wars! I decided it was high time that I saw the entirely saga back-to-back, so we did last Saturday! Adam had bought me The Star Wars Cookbook: Wookiee Cookies and Other Galactic Recipes 27 Things: Watch all the Star Wars films back to back, in anticipation of us doing a film marathon… we planned our meals for the day around this book.

We started at around 8am and watched Phantom Menace in bed, and not even Jar Jar Binks could put a dampener on my determination to watch all 6 films in a row, no sir-ee. We then got up, did a little bit of tidying around the house (Adam went out for bread for our brunch, too) and set up the second film. We paused it half way to enjoy some Tattouine Twin Sun Eggs, except, ours didn’t turn out like the photo… we had one sun eggs, and they didn’t cook very well.. Alas! it was only for fun :)

We were getting into our stride, the 3rd film went quickly & we set about doing a couple more chores in between. We got a phone call from my Dad just as I was making our Wookie Cookies, my Mum had somehow managed to get stuck in Tesco’s carpark (I had a bad feeling about this*, it was something to do with the automatic gears on their car getting jammed) so we had to drive my Dad over there to rescue her. When we got there she’d already fixed it! Typical.

After out brief outing we got back and I finished off the cookies and we started on ‘A New Hope’. Washed it down with some wookiee cookies, of course.

Yeah, they really were as good as they look. So, so amazing. I think we had about 5 each haha! oopsie. ‘A New Hope’ flew by, it’s such an easy film to watch.. infact, all the Star Wars films are! I lost count of the number of Wookiee impressions I did…  UAARRRGNNNHHH

Adam was tempted to have us watch his VHS copies of the un-digitally-remastered versions, but we don’t even own a VHS machine anymore. I kinda liked the remastered versions though, they tie in really well with the new films. Maybe I just made a few hardcore fans have a seizure, sorry.

Whilst we watched Empire we enjoyed some ‘Greedo’s Burritos’ & a couple more Wookiee Cookies, a-hem. We also sipped some of Adam’s home made ginger & whiskey mead.

We started watching the final film at 10pm, so we’d done pretty well! We were both falling asleep towards the end, watching films all day is TIRING. I’m not entirely sure whether I saw the Emperors demise! Anyway, it was fun :) Next up, Lords of the Rings????!

*an intentional pun, if you get it, you get it. If not, do a star wars marathon of your own!

Shoes & Hair

Yesterday I bought these new pumps for Adam’s graduation this friday. I also got a dress, but I’ll take a photo of the full outfit instead with that. They’re cute, non? And in the sale – self employment now means all my shopping must be done in the sales. At least for the time being!

I also decided I’d better take photos of my new redder hair, this marks off another one of my 27 things! I’m planning on doing something a little different with it later this year, but I’m going to lay of the dying for a while. I hope you like the style, I call it my greasy hair day messy bun.

& you’re only getting half my face because apparently, apparently, I don’t know how to work my mouth and looked like I was gurning. Although I’m pretty sure you’d have loved to see that, too.

Did I mention we went to the midnight premier of Harry Potter? It was amazing, easily the best cinema experience of my life. We’re going to see it again, I’m sure we must have missed so much.

27 Things: 1 Month of Vegetarianism

1 month of vegetarianism done 27 Things: 1 Month of Vegetarianism

Well, time to get back to some regular scheduled posting on the blog now! First of all, I’d better update you on our attempt at a month of Vegetarianism in June!

To be quite honest I didn’t miss meat as much as I thought I would, and thinking about it, we weren’t really eating that much meat based meals anyway. And, we found it really easy to substitute items in the meat meals anyway! Like burgers for instance, we had some amazing spicy bean burgers instead!

We did, erm, fall off the wagon once or twice though… due to family outings, and going to other people’s homes for meals, we ended up have some lamb & prawn curry. But still, we both managed the entire month apart from that, and have come out of it realising that we don’t really need to have meat as much at all. We’ve decided to eat meat if we’re in restaurants, buy the odd pack of mince or turkey, but maintain a 90% vegetarian diet at home. Not only are things working out cheaper on our weekly shops, but I think we’re being a lot more adventurous with our meals, too!

In our case I think a 100% vegetarian diet wouldn’t work, I do love my burgers and steak every now and again, but making the effort to have less meat is definitely a positive change! We’ve also decided to have sustainable fish in place of some of our would-be-meat meals.

One thing’s for sure, I could never be a vegan… Cheese, ice cream, wow… can’t live without!

Couch to 5k Progress

I had a bit of a bad week last week, I just didn’t have the motivation and missed a few days of running. However, I didn’t throw in the towel or anything, and just picked up where I left off. The good thing is that my little break doesn’t seem to have set me back, if anything I felt even better than before. I think my body relished the rest and readied itself for more.

I can feel myself improving with every run now, and it’s even more evident when I’m running the same routes and ending up with better times, less out of breath, and managing to run up giant hills that were incredibly daunting when I started. My pace is improving, too.

After my muscle acheyness the other week I’ve been trying to stretch as much as possible before each run. I’ve certainly noticed the difference, and even though I was stretching before I don’t think I was holding the stretches long enough, or doing enough of a variety of stretches on the same muscles.

My run last night was great, I really felt like I could actually run, be a proper runner. I’m still just on week 3 of the couch to 5k training, which means that the maximum running burst is 3 minutes at a time, but that’s 3 times what it was in week 1! The best thing is that I feel I could run longer bursts than that, but I wont, I’m liking the structure of the training. The nike+ app is still amazing me, too, I’ve joined a few challenges on there for extra motivation. I highly recommend it!

In other news, check out these amazing raspberries that I picked from our garden. They’re delicious!
