Kitten playground

Sorry there was no weekly good stuff on Friday, I completely forgot :/ My bad. This was going to be included, but I’ll give it a separate post instead. First, here’s a photo of Pumpkin enjoying a box of screwed up newspaper.

And here is Bramble, looking rather concerned by the whole pumpkin-falling-asleep-in-a-box scandal.

We official became ‘cat people’ last Thursday, too. The kittens were getting way too big for their original scratching post, knocking it down constantly. They’ve also developed a love of climbing curtains (the breed that they’re half of are notorious tree climbers), so we decided it was time to get them a cat tree. Jesus, it’s so much bigger than we thought! It’s as tall as me! they love it, though, and have taken to sleeping on the ledges too.

And for some sad news, you might remember me saying that last weekend was super rubbish and shitty. Last sunday evening we got a call from Adam’s mum saying that their cat, Brodie Rattmaus, had been knocked over by a car and was found by the roadside. She had already passed away when they found her. I’m still pretty shocked and upset by this, it was the middle of the day and she was a large cat, I can’t grasp how someone wouldn’t have seen her. She’d also gone quite far from their house, the ironic thing is that behind their house are acres of long grass fields, but she went the other side to the road. So sad. I’ll miss that kitten, she was lovely.

Our kitchen is almost done…

Just a quick post with some photos I took of our kitchen last night. All of the cupboards are now in, and most of the fronts are on (they need adjusting though). It’s starting to take shape! We can actually use it as a functioning kitchen now, too. There are more photos on flickr, including some of the fancy things the tall cupboards do!

The Cat Empire at the Manchester Academy

Last night we saw The Cat Empire in Manchester. They’re not very well known in the UK, but pretty big in Australia which is how we came to know about the band. Influenced by ska, jazz, Eastern European music & just about everything else, their eclectic collection of songs made for a super fun and dancey evening. They were also supported by a Balkan band, Paprika Balkinikus who plaid some amazing tunes and had the whole crowd jumping aorund, they even had an encore applause, what unknown support ever gets that? So, Cat Empire’s lead, Felix Riebl, came on stage beaming a 100 watt smile which seemed to cheer up the whole room, then the trumpets started, and the killer drums… the rest of the night was danced away!

I was kinda gutted that we missed the Michael Jackson memorial concert (hopefully get it on iPlayer or something?), but during the encore The Cat Empire made a cute little tribute of their own (‘xcuse the wonky camera work!).

I’ll also urge you to listen to some of their tunes on your favourite music streaming services, I know for sure there’s some on Napster, probably spotify too.
